Retro Vehicle Enhancement Ltd is a family business specialising in general automotive trimmings. Since the 60s, we have supplied the New Zealand auto industry with auto trimming services, leather conversions, sunroof installations and child safety seating.
With approximately 40 years of experience in the automotive industry, we have earned a solid reputation for our devotion to exemplary quality and service. Our hand picked team of craftsmen work from our purpose-built workshops and showrooms. Fully equipped engineering workshops enable us to successfully complete even the most complex installations.

Our history

Established in 1968 as Stanners Auto Timmers, Retro Vehicle Enhancement grew rapidly and by the 70s, we were New Zealand’s largest fitter of vinyl tops.
In the 80s we expanded our business to incorporate the installation of sunroofs and third row seats.
By 1996, the business incorporated new niches such as electronic sunroofs and leather conversions.
In the new millennium, we purchased Newmarket Auto Trimmers and expanded our interests to include the supply of seat heaters, air filters, exhausts, and airbag technologies.
In 2004 we were awarded recognition from Land Transport Safety Authority for our airbag seam sewing process. This makes us one of the few companies who are able to produce truly compliant airbag seams. Find out more about our airbag seams.

In 2008, we moved into our state-of-the-art world-class factory in Leonard Road, Penrose where we have parking for more than 100 vehicles. We are also equipped with both multiple and single vehicle transporters to ensure safe, efficient and prompt transport of all types of vehicles, including lowered and specialised vehicles.
Today we have the largest selection of auto materials in New Zealand. Each of our seat covers is professionally assembled by dedicated machinists in accordance with the highest production standards.
